The Manuscripts

The collection consists of around 800 items which were originally located in the former Jesuits libraries (Jersey, Enghien and Sainte-Geneviève school in Versailles).

Although most of these were written between the 18th and the 20th centuries, some medieval manuscripts have been preserved, such as a Cronica Pontificum by Martin de Troppau and an illuminating Apocalypse from the 15th century.

Retreats, treaties, devotion books and prayer books… The texts in which spirituality prevails constitute the main part of the collection: many notes taken by students in rhetoric, physics, philosophy or theology can also be found.

Texts on Jansenism, the convulsionnaires, freemasonry and the French Revolution complete some of the well-represented fields in the printed-works collection.
