Loan conditions
With your members card, you can borrow items for three weeks, and return your documents to any of Lyon’s 16 municipal libraries.
For all members
With your subscription, you can:
- borrow documents for 3 weeks from any library*.
* artworks, can only be borrowed from and returned to the Part-Dieu Library. These can be borrowed for 2 months.
* Documents from the bibliobus, can be borrowed for 4 weeks.
- extend the loan, once only, for 3 weeks, apart from for items which have been reserved, by 11pm on the day of the return at the latest.
- reserve up to 5 items from the catalogue, if they are already on loan to other users.
Children (under 11 years old)
borrow a maximum of 20 items from the youth section
parmi livres, BD, revues, CD de musique, cédéroms, méthodes de langue et DVD.
Adolescents (from 11 to 17 years old)
1/ with the CULTURE JUNIOR card, you can borrow a maximum of 20 items from the youth collection, with specific agreement from your parents
including books, graphic novels, magazines, music CDs, CD-ROMs, language-learning resources, and DVDs.

2/ with the CULTURE JUNIOR card, with specific agreement from your parents,
you can borrow a maximum of 20 items from the adult or youth collections
including books, graphic novels, magazines, music scores, CD-ROMs, audio books, documentary films, language-learning resources, maps and plans... CDs, DVDs.

Late returning your documents? What are the charges?
- 2 weeks late: 2€ administration fees
- 4 weeks late: 3€ of extra charges added to the initial fine
Administration fees apply to all items borrowed on the same day. You may only continue borrowing after returning the overdue items and paying any outstanding charges on your membership card. Administration fees for overdue items can be payed online on "my account".
If you have lost or damaged an item
Borrowed items must be returned in the same condition as they were in when loaned. The borrower must pay for any damaged or non-returned items. See table of charges for paying for items..
Your card gives you access to digital resource
All of our BIBLYO and CULTURE members have remote access to self-training resources (homework help, language learning), 1,800 press publications and magazines, and can listen to music online.
